China, Korea, and Japan to Be Featured in Exhibit

The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced today that it has opened a new department dedicated to East Asian art. The new department will occupy 64,500 square feet of gallery space, and will feature art from China, Korea, and Japan. This is a significant addition to the museum's collection, as it will allow the museum to showcase a wider range of East Asian art than ever before.

The new department will be located in the museum's renovated Lila Acheson Wallace Wing. The wing has been closed for renovations since 2012, and the new department will be the first to occupy the space. The department will feature a variety of works of art, including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and textiles. The museum has also acquired a number of new works of art for the department, including a 13th-century Chinese painting of a landscape.

The opening of the new department is a major event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is the first time that the museum has had a dedicated department for East Asian art, and it will allow the museum to showcase a wider range of East Asian art than ever before.
