Timo Werner: Injury Ends Season at RB Leipzig
German Striker Sidelined for the Remainder of the Bundesliga Campaign
Attacker Suffers Setback in Away Match at Tottenham Hotspur
RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an injury in the team's Champions League away match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Werner, 27, was forced off the pitch in the second half of the match with a hamstring injury. Scans have since confirmed that the injury is severe enough to sideline the German international for the remainder of the Bundesliga campaign.
Werner's absence is a major blow to RB Leipzig, who are currently in second place in the Bundesliga table. The German striker has been in excellent form for the club this season, scoring 12 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions.
RB Leipzig will now likely be forced to rely on Yussuf Poulsen and Andre Silva to lead the line for the rest of the season. However, neither player has been in as good form as Werner this season, and it remains to be seen whether they can step up and fill his void.
